An Insight into “The Splendour of the German Baroque” Concert

In the intimate and mysterious setting of the crypt, the ancient burial chamber at the heart of the Crusader church in the village of Abu Gosh, audiences are invited to encounter some of the greatest achievements of the Baroque tradition from the German-speaking world.

Baroque violinist Noam Gal, viola da gamba player Amit Tiefenbrunn, and harpsichordist and organist Yizhar Karshon come together for a rich chamber programme that brings the splendour, depth and virtuosity of 17th- and 18th-century music into the crypt.

The programme journeys from the architectural complexity and spiritual power of Bach, through Buxtehude’s rich polyphony and Biber’s bold, virtuosic writing, to the late-Baroque elegance and refined sound of Abel.

A pure and intimate chamber-music experience, combining the crypt’s unique acoustics with inspired historically informed performances, just a few steps away from the audience.
