At the heart of this concert stands one of the most beloved and moving works in the choral repertoire: the Requiem by Gabriel Fauré. Unlike dramatic and stormy requiems, Fauré’s work offers a different view of farewell — not one of fear and terror, but of serenity, tenderness, compassion, and light.

This is music of profound consolation, combining delicate melodic lines, radiant French harmonies, and moments of spiritual elevation. From its restrained opening to its well-known and cherished climactic movements, including the Pie Jesu and In Paradisum, Fauré’s Requiem envelops the listener in understated, intimate, and deeply moving beauty.

The work will be performed by the Ma’ayan Choir,Bat kol Choir, soprano Naomi Burla Levi, baritone Yair Polishook, and the Jeanne Gandelman Quintet, in a festive morning concert at the Recanati Auditorium of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
