An Insight into Bach in Versailles Concert

Although Johann Sebastian Bach's foot never actually stepped on French soil, it's well-known that French music greatly influenced his writing style. The delightful French style touched Bach's ear and heart, gradually seeping into his compositions.

Our program, "Bach in Versailles", is dedicated to this elegant and meticulous style that traveled between Leipzig and Paris. Starting from Bach's greatest arias for soprano and authentic French-Baroque instrumental ensemble, to the Cantata "Arion" by the French composer André Campra, which bridges the love for God, nature, and music.

Throughout the concert, you'll experience the pinnacle of Bach's compositions and that of his French contemporaries for voice and ancient instrument ensemble in a diverse, touching, and fascinating repertoire. We invite you to join us on this unique journey.

Musica Ascensia Ensemble is a young, all-female ensemble whose members are graduates of early music studies in Israel and around the world.

Concert Duration: Approximately 75 minutes, without intermission.
